Title:

Economic Visualisations as a Strategic Tool for Community Associations: Enhancing Transparency, Decision-Making and Financial Resilience

Abstract: In many countries, community associations (homeowners’ communities / condominiums) represent the everyday living environment of more than 80% of the population. Despite this enormous socio-economic relevance, the industry of community managers has made very limited progress in adopting modern economic visualisation tools that make financial information clear, actionable and predictive for owners. This session proposes a practical framework to transform traditional accounting reports—often difficult for non-experts—into visual dashboards that highlight the real financial health of a community: budget execution, arrears dynamics, supplier exposure, reserve-fund stability and long-term maintenance liabilities. By using simplified charts, trend models and colour-coded alerts, communities can better understand their economic position and anticipate critical decisions affecting sustainability, fees, and service levels. The presentation will show real-world cases from residential buildings, large developments and mixed-use communities, demonstrating how visualisation improves transparency, builds trust and supports evidence-based governance. It will also address why a significant part of the sector has not yet evolved towards these tools—lack of training, fragmented software, and limited data culture—and propose a pathway for rapid adoption. The objective is clear: empower owners and managers with visual, intuitive and equitable financial information that strengthens community resilience and modernises the profession.
